Composites Design Workshop XIX

Category: Conference/Workshop
Description:

AUTOMATED OPTIMIZER FOR MATERIAL, LAMINATE, TAPER, WEIGHT, AND LAYUP
You can design your own, like what you did in your strength of materials: just put in load/geometry. Our tools will do the rest. With master ply, one-constant stiffness and strength, you will have a general solution. Lam search takes over and selects the best double-double in [±F/±Y] laminate, the taper to reduce weight, and the simplest 1-axis layup along the x- or y-axis, no cross-plying. A new ply material can be scaled; no need to re-calculate. Excel- and/or ANSYS-based program is free that includes intuitive user interface, and layup outputs for optimum taper to reduce cost of fabrication. This is not the same old, same old: a new DD structure either converted from your current design, or a new one, with lower weight/cost than you can imagine.

Speakers with hands-on/original experience: Tsai, Cimini, Melo
