The sensitivity of the stiffness matrix to the location of the origin of the MSG model

    Dear all,

As I performed the homogenization analysis for a metallic corregated sandwich structure using Swift, it is shown that the A and D  matrices are not sensitive to the location of the origin of the MSG, however the coupling matrix B is quite sensitive to the location of the origin, I wonder if the location of the origin for the MSG of the corregated sandwich structure can influence the result of the effective stiffness matrix B, how do we avoid it or how do we determine the right origin of the MSG model?

It is expected. Even for an isotropic homogeneous plate, if you put the origin at the center, you will have B vanish. However, if you put the origin at any other places, you will have B not equal to zero. For swiftcomp, you can choose the origin at any location, you will always have the correct ABD matrices, although they might change for different locations.
