ASME Aerospace Division is launching a new conference called ASME Aerospace Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials (SSDM) Conference. The mission of this conference is to convene and serve the global aerospace structures, structural dynamics, and materials communities, continuing the legacy left behind by the AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC SDM conference. SSDM accepts two types of submissions: Paper (abstract deadline: Nov. 14) and Presentation Only (deadline: Feb. 13). The inaugural conference will be held in San Diego (June 19-21 2023). More details can be found at https://event.asme.org/SSDM.

Dear All,

I am excited to share that we recently developed iVABS as an integrated VABS-based framework for design and optimization, parametric studies, uncertainty quantifications of composite rotor blades, and other beam-like structures. This tool is particularly useful for rapid design of composite slender structures with accuracy of detailed 3D FEA at the speed of simple engineering beam theories.

Learn more and try iVABS at https://lnkd.in/gz952U6W.

Dear All, after almost seven years development, we have achieved more clarity over the concept of structure gene and it governing principles (mechanics of structure genome). My recent talk on MSG summarizes its relations with materials genome, common structural theories, micromechanics, multiscale modeling, as well as its current application to deployable structures, homogeneous 3D elements, machine learning assisted multiscale modeling. Please refer to the talk on Youtube.

If you cannot access Youtube, you can watch it on cdmHUB.

Virtual Opening of 3DEXPERIENCE Education Center for Advanced Composites

Where will the composites workforce of the future come from? The demand for and production of composites – these extremely versatile materials – is booming. Why? They offer lighter weight, higher strength, longer fatigue life and higher heat tolerance compared with other materials like aluminum, steel and titanium. Moreover, lighter weight parts result in products that are more fuel-efficient and have a lower carbon footprint – noteworthy benefits for next generation products. For all of these benefits, the challenge of adequately growing the composites workforce looms large, as composites are being increasingly utilized by many industries for a variety of applications.

To help build the digital workforce of the future, Dassault Systèmes in partnership with Purdue University have established the new 3DEXPERIENCE Education Center of Excellence in Advanced Composites, located in the Composites Manufacturing and Simulation Center (CMSC) on the Purdue University Campus. A Purdue University Center of Excellence, the CMSC is a leader in the education and training of a new generation of engineers in a digital world.

Register here to join the live-stream opening event on October 28, 2020 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM ET from Purdue University. In addition to speakers from Dassault Systèmes, the event will feature Dr. R. Byron Pipes, Executive Director, Indiana Manufacturing Institute, Purdue University, Dr. Rick Barto, Senior Manager, Advanced Technology Lab, Lockheed Martin, and several other education and business leaders. A full list of speakers the agenda and registration information can be found here.

The center will serve as a new partnership that will connect a major American university with Dassault Systèmes – pioneers in creating the digital environment for Industry 4.0.

Dear all, we have decommissioned the group forum and merged it to the site level forum at https://cdmhub.org/explore/forum to better serve the global composites community. Currently, the site forum does not have subscription function, which means we could not receive notification for new posts on the forum. We have to go to the site to find out. I have reported this to our support, they will develop it soon.

Also, we have another webinar coming up next Thursdays, details below:
