Ultimate tensile strength

    Hi, everybody

Is there any way to predict the yield stress and the UTS using  homogenized results?

    Regards

The correct way to predict yield stress or uts is through dehomogdnization and check the failure of each point within the SG. Thank you for your answer.
So, is this an iterative process? Like this:
        1. I must apply a strain in the macroscale  (like in a beam) with homogenizated properties.

        2. Then, apply the dehomogenization in the SG and check the failure.

        3. If there is not a failure, increase the strain applied in the macroscale and repeat the abovementioned steps.

must I add any other mechanical property into the SG or macro model to predict the yield stress or uts?

Do you have any example of the correct way to predict this?

        Regards

Currently SwiftComp can predict the initial failure, following a procedure conceptually similarly as what you described. However, for ultimate failure, we will also need to tract what happens after initial failure. Wenbin ---- Emailed forum response from wenbinyu@purdue.edu
