Biography
I received my B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez in 2017. I am currently a 1st year PhD student in the School of Mechanical Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Andres Arrieta at the Programmable Structures Laboratory. My research focuses on modeling and experimentation of multi-stable elements, and how to integrate them in morphing lightweight aircraft structures to reduce weight and improve aerodynamic performance. My undergraduate research background includes working at the Purdue Zucrow Labs and Notre Dame Turbomachinery Research Labs researching experimental centrifugal compressors and axial turbines. In the past, I have worked as an intern for GE Aviation and Air Products and Chemicals Inc., accumulating over a year of industry experience. Some of my favorite hobbies include: playing “El cuatro” (typical Puerto Rican instrument), the outdoors, traveling abroad, dancing, going to the beach, cooking, tutoring, and watching good Netflix shows.
