Abstract

Based on a recently developed generalized standard continuum damage model (CDM), this VUMAT user subroutine provides a rigorous and robust framework for implementing various damage behavior into 2D or 3D solid elements in a finite element analysis (FEA). It is designed to be used with Abaqus/Explicit in quasi-static analysis, and can be used to either predict damage or fracture. Version 1.0 provides a basic implementation for a "local" form of this damage model with damage anisotropy. More damage behavior will be included in the near future, and the model will also be extended to a "nonlocal" one such that damage/strain localization problems can be overcome.
