the content in the failure criterion-characteristic_length

        <characteristic_length>0</characteristic_length>

    Can I guess the meaning of that phrase? I couldn't find any information in the manual. If it's simply something I couldn't find, can you point me to a resource that has that information?

    This is the content in the failure criterion item in the material as shown below.

       <failure_criterion>tsai-wu</failure_criterion>
        <characteristic_length>0</characteristic_length>
        <strength>
          <xt>370.31e3</xt>
          <yt>6.12e3</yt>
          <xc>179.72e3</xc>
          <yc>28.94e3</yc>
          <s>13.67e3</s>
        </strength>

      This is an input for SwiftComp, not used by VABS. This input accepts a real number indicating the characteristic length used in the nonlocal approach for initial failure analysis. If it is zero then the local approach is used. For VABS, you can ignore this input.
