Predictions of ABD matrices and 3D effective properties of composite laminates

Based on type of microstructure and the original model of structure, we can select suitable structure genome (SG) to perform the predictions of effective properties of composite laminates. This cane be either the predictions of ABD matrix or 3D effective properties of composite laminates.

Let the material properties a Lamina be: AS4 3501-6: E11=126 GPA, E22=11 GPA, v12=0.28, v23=0.4, G12=6.6GPa.

The laminate lay-up: [0/90/±45]2s Thickness=0.0025.

Major steps to obtain the ABD matrix for composite Lmainates using SwiftComp Abaqus Step 1: a. Input material properties as elastic and engineering constants as shown in figure problem-1A.

problem-1A.jpg Step 2: a. Select suitable SG-1D SG, see figure problem-1B

problem-1B.jpg Step 3: Generate the laminates (see figure problem-1C and 1D) a. Click on fast Generate to generate composite laminate b. Add the layup information c. Add thickness of each laminate d. Select material type e. Click OK to generate the laminate f. See generated laminate below (Image(problem-1C.jpg) failed - File not found) (Image(problem-1D.jpg) failed - File not found)

Step 4: Perform Homogenization-ABD Matrix

a. Click on Homogenization (Image(problem-1E.jpg) failed - File not found) b. Homogenization Wizard shows up ( see below) c. Select the macroscopic model d. Select the specific model for laminate analysis, let classical model is selected e. Select analysis type f. Click on OK to perform homogenization g. The predicted effective properties are shown below (Image(problem-1F.jpg) failed - File not found) (Image(problem-1G.jpg) failed - File not found)
