Composite Stiffness Property Prediction

Abstract
Micromechanical models for the composite axial tensile, transverse tensile, and axial shear are combined into one tool with the objective of comparing their effectiveness as property prediction methods. Rule of mixtures models (ROM) and the composite cylinder model (CCM) results for several available resin/fiber systems are compared to experimentally obtained data. A sub-tool is included which makes adjustments for layups with bidirectional axial/transverse orientations using classical laminate theory (CLT). The user has the ability to input their own resin/fiber system and experimentally obtained properties to verify the model effectiveness with their particular system.
